Helen is a principal associate and commercial litigator in our litigation and dispute management practice group. Helen advises clients on a wide range of corporate and commercial disputes and provides commercial risk management advice to help clients seek to avoid legal proceedings. Helen advises clients in a number of sectors including manufacturing, technology, energy and professional services. Helen's particular focus is within the aerospace and defence and automotive sectors. Helen has significant sector knowledge advising clients regarding exclusive supply agreements, minimum order quantities, derivative programmes and supplier/customer issues such as quality and late delivery. Helen has also brought and defended breach of warranty claims under SPAs as well as advising on post completion disputes. Helen's experience includes: - Advising a leading aerospace OEM's commercial and legal teams, including reporting directly to the senior leadership team in relation to its Trent 1000 engine. This is described by the board as the single most important issue currently impacting the business. - Advising a large energy provider in pursuing legal proceedings for the recovery of around £20m surrounding supply and installation of SMART meters. - Providing legal support to a leading manufacturer regarding multi-party, multi-jurisdictional claims for breach of warranty and the alleged supply of faulty engines. - Leading the defence of a claim for £60million made against an automotive manufacturer in the Court of Appeal, following a 3 month trial (Globe Motors Inc v TRW LucasVarity Electric Steering Ltd [2016] EWCA Civ 396) - Defending a breach of warranty claim following the sale of an aerospace manufacturing company relating to failure to comply with specifications and contractual obligations. - Helen has also undertaken client secondments including at GKN Plc (during which Helen assisted with the acquisition of a Tier 1 aerospace manufacturer for £630 million), NCP and Cadent.
