Nigel is Registered Foreign Lawyer (England & Wales) and Head of our Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) group in Asia. Nigel specialises in technology, media and telecommunications projects throughout Asia but with a specific focus on Greater China.

Nigel has advised some of the world's leading financial institutions, household name retailers and suppliers of electronics products, global telecommunications and leading media companies on major projects.  Over the 16 years he has been practising in Hong Kong, China and throughout the Asia Pacific region. He has also acted either for or against most of the world's leading suppliers of both hardware and software.  

During this time, Nigel has assisted in the negotiation of and advised on all types of technology, media, telecommunications and related commercial contracts and issues across Asia. This includes significant IT and other outsourcing projects, multi-million dollar IT procurement projects, large scale projects on the internet, including significant e-commerce projects (in particular in the retail sector in China) and ground breaking media projects.

In addition to assisting clients with the drafting and negotiation of all related contracts and providing related regulatory advice, Nigel also regularly advises on intellectual property, contractual, and other issues of general law in Hong Kong, China and many other countries throughout Asia. He advises on data privacy/protection, import/export issues, domain name issues and disputes, as well as numerous jurisdiction specific regulatory issues, where necessary with input from the country local counsel. Nigel has also built up an extensive network of specialists in the TMT sector in each country in Asia. During his time in Hong Kong, Nigel has built up an extensive network of specialists in the TMT sector in each country in the region. 

Nigel's practice has been accorded first tier rankings for Technology and Telecoms by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 directory in both Hong Kong and China from 2006-2010.  He is also ranked by Asia Pacific Legal 500, Chambers Asia and Chambers Global as a leading individual in Technology, Media and Telecommunications (Band 1), Information Technology (Band 1) and Telecommunications and Broadcasting (Band 2) in Hong Kong and China.

Nigel has been resident in Hong Kong since 1995, having previously practiced in London. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Nigel spent 10 years in the software industry, the last 5 years of which were in senior positions at NEC, a leading Japanese technology supplier, and at Nomura Securities, a leading Japanese investment bank. 

Prior to his arrival at Eversheds, Nigel was a partner and Head of the China Technology Transactions Group of Morrison & Foerster in Hong Kong. Before that Nigel was also was a partner and Head of the Communications, Media and Technology practices of Clifford Chance and Bird & Bird in Hong Kong.Nigel studied for his law degree (LL.B (Hons)) at The University of Essex, Colchester, England and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in (1993). 

Nigel has been consistently recognised as a leading individual in the Information Technology and Telecommunications & Broadcasting by Chambers Asia.
