Ilze heads the Real Estate and Construction practice group. Thanks to more than 16 years of professional experience in addition to her summa cum laude master’s degree, Ilze is able to offer clients more than just impeccable academic knowledge as her legal services are informed by more than a decade of practical experience.  Ilze proactively advises clients on the sale and lease of real estate, construction agreements, land use restrictions and environmental protection concerns.  She also represents clients in administrative court disputes over construction permit appeals.  Ilze has accumulated vast experience in developing binding municipal regulations applicable to land use and construction.  She is actively involved in advising clients on renewable energy, performing due diligence and representing wind power plant and cogeneration plant operators at every stage of the development of their projects.

Ilze is also active in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group. Prior to joining Eversheds Bitāns, Ilze gained extensive experience as an assistant to a judge in reviewing civil and administrative cases. Now she is one of the most recognisable, enthusiastic and unflagging litigators at Eversheds Bitāns.  She is known not only for drafting effective documentation for legal proceedings but also for her convincing presentation in the courtroom.  Ilze represents the interests of international and local clients at courts of every level, addressing commercial disputes worth millions, working on construction and taxation cases, principal property disputes and administrative cases alike.  Ilze has been named a recommended lawyer by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

Ilze has lectured on construction law at Turība University.  She is the long-standing head of the Spatial Planning and Construction Work Group at the Foreign Investor Council in Latvia (FICIL) and, most notably, has represented FICIL’s interests within working groups at the Latvian Parliament and the Ministry of Economics during the drafting of the new Construction Law and General Construction Regulations.
