Surekha is an experienced senior associate in our Environment, Health and Safety team. Her practice focuses on corporate criminal defence non-contentious compliance advice. She also conducts her own advocacy at inquests. She defends prosecutions of large national and multi-national organisations following work related fatalities and serious injuries.

Surekha works across a number of sectors, particularly the manufacturing, transport and education sectors where she is regularly called upon to provide strategic advice at Board and Senior Leadership Team level. Her experience spans across regulators such as the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Office of Rail and Road and local authorities.

Her recent cases include:• Advising a transport sector client following the death of a member of the public, and representing the client organisation at inquest.• Carrying out a compliance audit for a financial services client• Advising a social housing client following a serious incident which occurred on a construction site, which caused significant injuries to a subcontractor• Advising a construction company following an alleged breach of a TPO, including representation at interview under caution

In addition to her corporate criminal defence practice Surekha leads on various aspects of the team’s training offering. She devised and implemented the firm’s CDM course and led on the regulatory aspects of the work related stress course, both of which are now delivered nationally on a regular basis.

Surekha has obtained her NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, and is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyer’s Association.
