Julia advises on a wide range of UK and EU competition law aspects in particular managing cartel investigations and implementing global compliance programmes as well as advising on a range of pan-European distribution matters. Julia recently spent 6 months on secondment to the Competition and Markets as a Deputy Director in the Cartels and Criminal Enforcement Unit where she gained particular experience of managing leniency applications and criminal casework as well as training their investigating officers and writing their internal investigations manual.
Julia was instrumental in developing the Eversheds' Competition Law Online Toolkit which has won a number of awards including Winner Best E-Learning Facility, E-Loties Award 2004; Lawyer Award for best use of IT 2005; and Financial Times Stand Out Innovation 2006. She has worked closely with many clients such as HeidelbergCement, Warburton's, Marston's Plc, Red Bull and Rolls Royce to deliver this online training programme globally. Julia has a particular interest in corporate ethics and working with clients to create a genuine culture of ethical behaviour. As part of this, Julia has developed an online training programme, ethics@work which brings to life a client's code of ethics.
Julia’s investigations experience includes representing clients in two of the OFT's construction cases; acting for two clients in the OFT's investigation into the groceries market; representing a client in the OFT commercial vehicles investigations and the subsequent and ongoing European Commission investigation into trucks.
Julia also recently returned from a yearlong secondment to American Express where she gained particular expertise in the payments sector, having served as their EU law, Antitrust and Payments Regulation lawyer for EMEA
