Joanne is a Principal Associate in Eversheds Sutherland’s company commercial team. She advises on technology outsourcing arrangements and technology enabled projects. She advises both customers and suppliers and has a particular interest in the TMT, Government and Infrastructure and Financial Services sectors. In the Financial Services sector her role includes advising on the impact of regulatory change on the contract terms (including compliance with the European Banking Association’s ‘Guidelines on outsourcing arrangements’ and the Prudential Regulation Authority’s Supervisory Statement 2/21: ‘Outsourcing and third party risk management’). Joanne’s recent experience includes advising: an international technology supplier across various technology transformation projects and compliance matters (including most recently the UK regulators’ Discussion Paper 3/22 on ‘Operational resilience: critical third parties to the UK financial sector’); a global bank in relation to various projects, including updating its approach to contracting for compliance with SS2/21 and updating its template contracts for use with a legal tech solution; a global bank in relation to the variation of its worldwide framework for technology and telecommunications services and its outsourcing of trader voice services; a UK financial institution in relation to its outsourcing of cyber-security services; a group of seven leading banks in Hong Kong in relation to the procurement of a trade finance platform using distributed ledger technology (blockchain); HMRC in relation to the restructuring of its major technology contract (Aspire) (circa £10billion), as well as its Trader Support Services and Inland Border Facilities projects; National Highways in relation to various strategic technology projects over the last ten years, including its National Roadside Telecommunications System and ‘Free-Flow” Charging projects and its ICT service ‘towers’ project; the General Authority of Zakat and Tax in Saudi Arabia on the procurement of a technology based solution to improve tax collection in Saudi Arabia by the use of digital and physical markers; a cloud services provider in relation its approach to contracting with financial services and public sector clients. Joanne has experience advising on pensions administration outsourcings and also data centre colocation services contracts in the FS sector, where she advises on the regulatory compliance of arrangements assessed as material or high risk. Between August 2017 and September 2018 Joanne was on secondment to our Hong Kong office.
