Emmanuel Gutton joins White & Case as a partner in Luxembourg

Global law firm White & Case LLP has added funds partner Emmanuel Gutton in Luxembourg.

"Luxembourg is a key jurisdiction in Europe and across the world for funds formation and private equity capital raising as well as transactional activity, with a large proportion of the mergers and acquisitions transactions in Europe and an estimated 90 percent of global private equity investments structured using Luxembourg vehicles," said White & Case partner John Reiss, Head of the Firm's Global M&A Practice. "Emmanuel's credentials and deep knowledge of the industry will further bolster White & Case's position to advise on funds formation in Luxembourg and globally."

Emmanuel advises on the creation, structuring and conversion of funds across a wide range of asset classes including private equity and real estate. He also assists in setting-up and advising investment fund managers. Emmanuel brings more than 15 years of experience advising on funds and related matters and joins White & Case from the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry, where he was Deputy CEO and General Counsel.

"Emmanuel has excellent technical capabilities and extensive international experience advising on all aspects of funds-related matters," said White & Case partner Thierry Bosly, co-Head of the Global Private Equity Industry Group. "Luxembourg is the largest investment fund centre in Europe and second globally after the US, and Emmanuel will work closely with current Luxembourg funds partner Arnaud Cagi-Nicolau to service the increasing demand for funds advice from our clients as well as developing new opportunities for White & Case in the Luxembourg market."

White & Case partner and Vice Chair Oliver Brettle said: "We have made substantial investments in market leading private equity and mergers and acquisitions partners in recent years alongside consistently strong partner promotions in these areas, both of which have further grown our transactional practices globally. This expansion coupled with the opening of our Luxembourg office and the arrival of partner Arnaud Cagi-Nicolau in March 2022 has led to even greater need for specialist funds capabilities. Emmanuel's addition follows swiftly on the arrival of funds partners Emily Brown and Lavanya Raghavan in London, Phillip Sacks in Dubai, Omar Hemady in Boston and Eriko Sakata in Tokyo, and will further deepen our bench strength to meet that demand."
