Robin joined Vinson & Elkins in 1971 where he tried insurance defense cases. He left the firm in 1974 to form the full-service firm of Wood, Campbell, Moody & Gibbs P.C., where he focused on the development of a trial group. In 1983, Robin and the trial lawyers formed Gibbs & Bruns LLP, formerly Gibbs & Ratliff L.L.P., focusing its practice on all forms of high-stakes commercial litigation. Robin is a member of The American Law Institute and a Fellow of the American and Texas Bar Foundations.
Robin has served as a Trustee of The University of Texas Law School Foundation since 2008, and was fomerly the Foundation Chair (2015-2018) and Vice President (2012-2014). He served on the Executive Committee of The University of Texas Law Alumni Association (2002-2003); and was President of the Texas Law Review Association (1999-2000). Robin received “Dean Leon Green Award” from the Texas Law Review Association, 2010.
