Career

Michelle concentrates her practice in the areas of welfare, qualified retirement (including defined benefit, 401(k), profit sharing, ESOP and money purchase pension plans), and executive compensation plan design, compliance and administration.

She delivers insightful and practical advice to clients on a broad spectrum of employee benefit issues, including advising clients on plan design, drafting plan documents, amendments and resolutions, guiding clients through plan audits, investigations and litigation, preparing plan corrections and filings, negotiating vendor contracts, and handling the benefit and compensation issues arising in corporate transactions. In particular, Michelle is well-versed in compliance issues related to the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, COBRA, Consolidated Appropriations Act and SECURE 1.0 and 2.0.

In addition, Michelle regularly counsels employers about their fiduciary duties under ERISA, including with respect to plan governance, required plan notices, and the selection and monitoring of plan service providers.

Michelle also assists clients with day-to-day administrative issues, such as claims and appeals, QDRO determinations, participant communications and reporting and disclosure requirements.
