Matt advises and defends clients across industries with the strategic insights as the former General Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a former environmental litigator at the U.S. Department of Justice, and the former General Counsel for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Clients turn to Matt to tackle some of the biggest risks related to EPA regulation and enforcement facing the energy, mining, chemical, agriculture, and development industries. This includes major litigation challenging the waters of the United States regulation, charting a course through the multiple emerging PFAS regulations, advising on the developing environmental justice policies, and defending major environmental enforcement actions. His in-depth experience and knowledge on pivotal recent changes in environmental regulation for air, water, and chemicals, as well as his contacts in the federal government, enable the highest quality regulatory advocacy.

Matt also provides pragmatic and strategic compliance solutions for projects and operations throughout the country. Matt is able to provide deep insight into Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act permitting processes of federal and multiple state agencies, enabling clients to navigate compliance.

Matt is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the DC and Sixth Circuits.
