Career

Simon Schooling has a broad practice in international arbitration and commercial litigation, with a particular focus on resolving high-value disputes in the energy and natural resources sectors.

He has acted in commercial international arbitration under many of the major arbitral institutions and rules, often working with lawyers in other jurisdictions.  He is experienced in investment arbitration through the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes, and in public international law.

He has acted in disputes involving mining, power, infrastructure, oil and gas, hydro-electric and other renewables, finance, engineering and construction.  He is experienced in injunctive work, including urgent interim relief, as well as enforcement of arbitral awards.  He acts in disputes of all sizes, but has acted in cases where the amounts at stake have been more than $1 billion.

His clients have included insurance policyholders, joint venturers, listed energy companies, and government entities.

He has also advised in relation to data breaches, and works with the firm’s Global Tech, Outsourcing and Privacy practice.   He has experience in acting in professional negligence claims.
