Position

Alan is a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. Alan specialises in banking litigation, lender enforcement (particularly receivership), insolvency and restructuring, shareholder disputes and commercial property matters. Alan acts for financial institutions, insolvency practitioners, private equity funds, bondholders, wealth management firms and property holding companies. Alan has extensive experience in litigating matters in the Irish Superior Courts particularly the Commercial Court and Court of Appeal. Alan also specialises in alternative dispute resolution including in particular mediation and arbitration.

Career

Alan joined the Maples Group as a partner in 2018. Prior to that Alan worked for large commercial law firms in Dublin and London. Alan also previously worked as inhouse counsel from 2010 to 2013 and during that time was Head of Litigation of the IBRC Group.

Alan has been recommended for Dispute Resolution in both Chambers Europe and Chambers Global. In the 2019 edition of Chambers Europe, Alan was described by clients as being “very commercial, proactive and responsive”. Another client attested that “he sees all the detail and provides it. He took the upfront time and made the matter easier to resolve”. He was also praised in the 2019 guide by a client who said they were “very impressed with his approach to date”. Alan is also listed as a recommened lawyer in The Legal 500’s 2019 guide.
