Lily Miao is a Partner in the Corporate Finance department of Appleby’s Hong Kong office.

She brings over a decade of extensive experience in both offshore and onshore markets in HK, Singapore and the UK. She regularly advises on a broad spectrum of banking and general corporate transactions, including leveraged and acquisition finance, complex cross-border transactions, corporate investments and reorganisations, with a particularly strong focus on funds and fund finance. In the funds related space, Lily supports the financing and investment needs of a fund throughout its entire life cycle, from inception through divestment, to exits and continuations.

In addition to closing large syndicated and leveraged finance deals and complex cross border financing transactions, Lily has executed capital call, NAV, hybrid, GP, LP, family office/UHNWI and umbrella facilities aggregating nearly USD20bn in the last 2 years, many of which were a first in Asia. As one of the few leading Fund Finance experts in town, being widely recognised by legal directories, Lily is sought after by major international and PRC financial institutions, asset managers, listed and private corporations and investment funds for her expertise at top tier international firms.

Prior to joining Appleby, Lily worked in the debt finance teams at another offshore law firm in Hong Kong, as well as at Clifford Chance’s offices in London, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Lily is admitted as a solicitor in the British Virgin Islands, Bermuda and England & Wales, and is a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong. Lily graduated from Oxford University with a BA in Jurisprudence with Law Studies in Europe, spent a year on ERASMUS exchange to the University of Bonn and obtained her LPC at College of Law.
