Career

Flávio Paranhos has more than thirteen years of experience handling tax matters for Brazilian and foreign clients focused on tax consulting, tax litigation and customs law. He counsels companies in the oil and gas industry, specifically assisting with issues related to the import of goods under special customs regimes.

Mr. Paranhos also defends companies against tax assessments filed by Federal, State and Local authorities with the aim of collecting Corporate Income Tax, Social Contributions, State Valued-Added Tax and Municipal Services Tax.

Clients rely upon Mr. Paranhos’s solid knowledge of tax litigation at the judicial and administration levels, enabling him to challenge a specific tax burdens and pursue opportunities to recover taxes unduly paid. He also drafts legal opinions on tax consulting issues and provides counsel on tax aspects of due diligence procedures for mergers and acquisitions transactions.
