Career

Gustavo Fróes has more than twenty years of experience in intellectual property law.  He focuses his practice in providing legal advice in all fields of intellectual property matters, including litigation, trademarks, copyright, unfair competition and piracy, elaboration of legal opinions and consultations for brazilian and international companies in different industrial and commercial segments.

Over the years Mr. Fróes has acquired expertise in the combat of piracy with a proactive approach to customs authorities. Among the other areas of his focus are the domain names and software. Mr. Fróes served as the lead attorney for all IP matters on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Panamerican Games Rio 2007. He has also handled several IP matters for major national and international groups.

Mr. Fróes has also effectively guided clients through challenges in the areas of civil and commercial litigation on behalf of large national and foreign corporations, due diligence in civil litigation, contracts and real estate, among others.

Early career experience for Mr. Fróes includes experience as trainee at a Brazilian law firm where he was able to develop his professional skills in the administrative sphere at the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) and also in the litigation department, providing consulting work and preparing petitions. As a partner at another Brazilian law firm, Mr. Fróes was an active member in the development of the firm and he gained deeper knowledge in trademark prosecution and litigation.
