Career

Mateus is a Partner at Veirano’s Dispute Resolution practice in the São Paulo office. Mateus joined the firm in 2003 and is a specialist in international arbitration and complex litigation and represents clients across a number of industries, such as hospitality, technology, entertainment, human and animal health, energy, mining, telecommunications and construction.

Mateus has acted as counsel in domestic and international arbitration proceedings administered and governed by the rules of major arbitral institutions, including the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR-AAA); International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID); Center for Arbitrations and Mediation of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC); Chamber of Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration of São Paulo (CMA-CIESP/FIESP); Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil (CAM-AmCham); Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) Mediation and Arbitration Chamber; Brazilian Center of Mediation and Arbitration (CBMA). Furthermore, Mateus has substantial experience in court disputes in connection with arbitration cases.

Mateus has worked as a member of King & Spalding’s International Arbitration team in New York (USA), with emphasis on Latin America and investor-State arbitration (2014-15).
