Valdir Rocha is the National Practice Group Leader for the Intellectual Property Practice Group. He is recognized globally for his expertise in helping companies protect and defend their intellectual property rights. He has advised many premier global and Latin American corporations, as well as internationally recognized brands.

For more than three decades Mr. Rocha has provided clients with business-focused advice on registration, licensing and litigation of trademarks, industrial designs, patents, utility models, software, domain names, plant varieties and copyrights; technology transfer agreements, franchising agreements. He has also regularly represented clients in matters related to trade names, unfair competition, trade secrets and other transactional matters associated with intellectual property rights.

Clients value Mr. Rocha’s vast experience and deep industry knowledge, along with his ability to identify unique solutions to resolve the challenging issues faced by today’s leading companies and their brands. Working with other litigators at Veirano Advogados and the Firm’s appellate experts in Brasilia, he has successfully litigated multiple trademark, trade dress, patent, domain name and unfair competition cases.

Mr. Rocha also focuses his practice on advertising law, which includes the clearance of commercials, advertising campaigns, promotions and sweepstakes, representing world-class brands. Mr. Rocha is a frequent speaker on these topics and represents Veirano as the Brazilian member of the Global Advertising Lawyer’s Alliance (GALA). For two years he chaired the America’s Group of this Association. Mr. Rocha was Vice-Chair of GALA for a three-year period starting on January 2013. Since 1980, Mr. Rocha attended almost 180 conferences, half of them abroad.

Veirano Advogados’ Intellectual Property Practice Group was developed by Mr. Rocha and is unique in Brazil. When he joined the Firm, Mr. Rocha was the sole intellectual property attorney and over time has recruited some of the top Intellectual Property and Trademark talent to the Firm including more than ten attorneys, as well as patent engineers accomplished in the various aspects of Intellectual Property law.
