Career

Fernanda Kotzias is a partner at Veirano Advogados and integrates the Tax & Customs practice.

Fernanda has experience in Customs Law and Foreign Trade, representing Brazilian and foreign companies in advisory and litigation matters related to strategic planning of imports and exports, tariff reductions and changes, rules of origin, bilateral and regional trade agreements, customs valuation, classification of goods, licensing and control of foreign trade operations, trade defense, tariff and technical barriers to trade and other issues related to the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).

Her experience also includes advisory and litigation work in cases related to indirect federal and state taxes (IPI, PIS, COFINS and ICMS).

Fernanda, who was a former Counselor at the Brazilian Administrative Council of Tax Appeals (CARF) between 2019 and 2023, holds a PhD degree in International Trade Law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), having completed a doctoral-sandwich program at Georgetown Law (Washington, DC). She has a LL.B degree and a LL.M degree in Law from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) and a B.A. degree in International Relations from UNISUL.
