Flávia Azevedo is a partner of the Firm’s labor practice. Based in Rio de Janeiro, she has practiced labor law for more than a decade with a focus on assisting clients in diverse industries such as banking, oil and gas, professional services, and energy. Ms. Azevedo counsels Brazilian and international companies on all aspects of employment and labor law, ranging from providing legal advice on complex employment matters to union negotiations and labor litigation.
Ms. Azevedo’s labor practice encompasses advise to clients on labor issues including those related to corporate transactions and M&A due diligence. She frequently handles negotiation of employment agreements, regularization of expatriate employees, executive compensation and other types of compensation including stock options, incentive plans and profit sharing. Ms. Azevedo also assists companies with cross-border transfer of employees both into and out of Brazil.
Clients value Ms. Azevedo’s skill to develop effective compliance programs, conduct compliance investigations and draft ethics, employee conduct and sexual harassment policies. She is also experienced at devising “use of work tools” policies and employee training to introduce and implement policies. Ms. Azevedo’s litigation experience includes defending employers in the labor court and before government agencies such as the Ministry of Labor.
Ms. Azevedo was an intern at the Interfaith Center for Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) in 2009, where she assisted in advising ICCR members on their roles as responsible investors and how to engage in sustainable practices.
After completing her LL.M at Columbia Law School, she worked as an international visiting attorney at a leading New York based law firm from 2009-2010., Ms. Azevedo is admitted to the New York Bar Association which enables her to stay current on emerging employment and labor legal trends in the United States.
