Career
Dr. Damaso A. Pardo joined Bruchou in 2020 as a partner in the Intellectual Property, Privacy, New Technologies and Legal Advertising Department.
He provides legal advice and litigates in conflicts regarding trademarks, patents, advertising and marketing law, as well as privacy and Internet law.
Dámaso held the position of President of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). During that period he represented, on behalf of the Argentine Republic, the team that negotiated the trade agreements between Mercosur and EU, Canada, South Korea, and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
Before joining the public sector, Mr. Pardo had practiced intellectual property law for thirty years in some of the most prestigious law firms in Buenos Aires.
Mr. Pardo has served two terms on the board of directors of the Argentine Association of Industrial Property Agents (AAAPI), and was president of the American section of the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA). He was head of different committees at the International Trademark Association (INTA), as well as at the Association of European Trademark Owners (MARQUES). During his mandate at INPI, Mr. Pardo was appointed president of the Programa Iberoamericano de Propiedad Intelectual (IBEPI), and also chair of the Standing Committee on the Law of Patents (SCP), at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Mr. Pardo holds a law degree from the Argentine Catholic University (UCA, 1985), and earned a master´s degree in Intellectual Property at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law in 1990. He was a consultant at WIPO in Geneva, Switzerland, for a Mercosur project, between 1993 and 1994.
He teaches Intellectual Property law and practice at Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) as well as International Aspects of IP Law, in the Master’s program of Intellectual Property and Innovation, a joint program administered by WIPO and the Universidad de San Andrés, in Buenos Aires.
