Benjamín Pérez

Position

Benjamín is a partner and member of the mining area (Band 1). In addition, he is a member of the water law and environment departments. He specializes in mining project development, due diligence, M&A in the mining industry, on regulatory and environmental issues, water law and desalination projects, and mining and water law litigation.

Career

In the academic field, he has been a Professor of Mining Law at the Universidad Nacional Andrés Bello (since 2019) and was professor of Commercial Law (2013-2018) at the same university. In addition, he was assistant professor of Indigenous Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2014).

Memberships

Benjamín is member of the board of the Chilean-Australian Chamber of Commerce and was the President of its Mining Committee (2018-2023) and is a member of The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law. In addition, he is a regular speaker at the Mining and Water Law Sessions hosted at Universidad de Chile and has made several contributions and published articles in connection with water law in the mining industry.

Education

He obtained their Bachelor of Laws from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2008. They then earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Regulatory Law from the same institution in 2013. Additionally, in 2011, they participated in the Academy of American and International Law at the Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law in Texas, USA.
