Career

Founding partner of SILVA. A lawyer from the Pontifical Catholic University with over 28 years of experience in the field of intellectual property and new technologies. He has been recognized by various prestigious international publications.

He studied an International Program, Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey (1983) and Received the General Business Studies Award from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for the academic year 2006-2007.

He served as the Head of the Committee on Famous and Well-Known Marks for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Trademark Association from 2009 to 2011.

He was a Director of the Chilean Association of Intellectual Property (ACHIPI) from 2009 to 2016.

Appointed as the honorary consul of Jamaica in Chile in 2020.

Since 2019 to 2022, he had been serving as a Director of the Corporation for the XIX Pan American Games Santiago 2023, appointed by the Government of Chile.

He holds the position of President of the Futrono Corporation.

He was a Legal Counselor for the Legal Circle of the Chilean Institute for Rational Business Management (Icare) from 2005 to 2008.

The team is co-led by founding partner; Juan Pablo Silva, an expert in trade marks, geographical indications and designations of origin; trade mark and patent practitioner Francisco Silva, who also heads the firm’s international department; and Ricardo Montero, an adviser on trade marks, domain names and copyright. The next line of experienced advisers includes Andrés Grunewaldt (the current director of the Chilean Association of Intellectual Property) and Sebastián Alvarado, who both ‘always provide the best advice for patent cases’; and Rodrigo León, whose track record includes drafting IP policies and regulations for major universities and companies in Chile.
