Career

Mr. Reyes has over 20 years of professional experience, focusing his practice on corporate law, competition law, regulation, fintech issues, compliance, and complex litigation. Between 2009 and 2012, he served as Head of the Legal and Litigation Divisions of the National Economic Prosecutor's Office of Chile (Chilean Antitrust Agency), leading investigations, proceedings, and mergers promoted by the Competition Defense Tribunal and the Supreme Court.

Also he worked as a senior attorney and partner in different law firms specializing in regulation, competition law, compliance, and complex litigation. Throughout his career, he has been involved in well-known and publicized cases in Chile across various industries, including Fintech, Payment methods and Cryptocurrencies.

He is an opinion leader in fintech, technology, regulated markets, competition law, compliance, and litigation, among other topics. He is a regular columnist for well-known media outlets in the country including El Mercurio Legal, Diario Financiero, La Tercera, Estado Diario, among others. He has been invited as a panelist to various national and international seminars and forums on fintech, digital economy, compliance, among other topics. During 2022-2023, he participated, through FinteChile and other fintech companies, in discussions on the fintech bill, the transition of the payments industry to a four-party model, and the implementation of maximum interchange fees in line with recent regulatory changes in Chile.

His professional trajectory and expertise have been recognized by prominent legal directories in recent years, including Chambers and Partners in the Fintech area; Latin Lawyer 250  in Antitrust & Competition; Leaders League in Antitrust & Competition; and Best Lawyers in Competition/Antitrust Law Corporate and Compliance.

Personal

Mr. Reyes has extensive academic experience, teaching courses on topics such as regulated markets, economics, digital transformation, and compliance at renowned institutions in the country including Universidad Diego Portales, Universidad Alberto Hurtado, and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he is a permanent collaborator of the Center for Competition Law at the latter institution.

He has also participated in studies on Fintech and competition law at the Center for Competition Law of the Catholic University of Chile and the Competition Center of the Adolfo Ibáñez University (CECO) and has authored publications in his areas of expertise. such as:
