Career

Perry is vice-chairman of Bennett Jones, managing partner of the Calgary office and a member of the firm's Partnership Board. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, friendly and hostile takeover bids, corporate reorganizations, divestitures, initial public offerings and public and private offerings of debt and equity securities. Perry has extensive national and cross-border experience and has acted for clients in some of the largest transactions in Canada. His mergers and acquisitions experience includes representing clients in over $25 billion of transactions, including many of Canada's and North America's largest national and cross-border mergers. In addition, Perry is lead counsel to the ATCO Group of Companies. He is recognized by Chambers Global, the Legal Media Group, Best Lawyers in Canada, PLC Which Lawyer, the IFLR 1000 and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a leading lawyer in his areas of expertise. Perry is a director of public and private companies and is a past member of the Alberta Securities Commission Advisory Committee. He is a director of Alpine Canada and WinSport Canada (Calgary Olympic Development Association), which manages the legacy of the Calgary Winter Olympics and winter sport facilities and development programs. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Samara, a non profit organization dedicated to citizen engagement in democracy. He is a frequent speaker and chairs national and international conferences on a variety of business law topics.
