Career

Matias Olcese specializes in mining and corporate law, focusing primarily on mining regulatory, financing and M&A transactions of the mining industry. He regularly advises privately held and listed companies (TSX, TSXV, ASX, AIM, LSE, NYSE and OTCBB) acting in the mining sector, in a wide range of matters, including exploration, option agreements, royalties, JVs, operating agreements, project development and M&As. He has been involved in the acquisition of several mining assets, including gold, silver, copper, lithium, potash, uranium, bentonite and REE deposits, among others, and has produced title due diligences and legal opinions on mining properties located in all mining jurisdictions of Argentina. Mr. Olcese also acts as local counsel for mining companies and financiers in cross-border financial deals of the mining sector, including equity financing and public takeovers.   Mr. Olcese has vast experience in the banking and capital market sector, where he has acted for lenders, underwriters and issuers in the structuring of innovative capital-raising transactions, including equity, debt, structured financing and hybrid securities.    His experience includes advising First Quantum Minerals Ltd. in its acquisition of Lumina Copper Corp., owner of world-class copper project “Taca-Taca”; Argentex Mining Corp. in strategic investments and equity financing rounds for its Pingüino project; Orion Mine Finance, in its acquisition of a NSR right on the Altar Project, LSC Lithium Corp. in multiple acquisitions of lithium assets from Orocobre Plc, Enirgi group and Advantage Lithium. He has also advised and produced the opinions for Lithium Power International Pty's listing on ASX, and LSC Lithium Corp.'s listing on TSXV.   Prior to joining the firm in 2017, Mr. Olcese was a partner at HOLT Abogados, where he was a member of the firm since its foundation in 2008. Previously, he was an associate at Estudio Beccar Varela (2006-2008) and at Zang Bergel & Viñes (2006).
