Career

Alejandro has more than 19 years of experience in the private sector, especially advising family estates, clients in M&A transactions and providing investment banking services. He advises in corporate governance issues as well as in managing cross-border estates.

He is part of the Estate & Wealth Preservation team at Dentons Cárdenas & Cárdenas advising clients on matters related to (i) estate and tax planning; (ii) succession planning and implementation in family businesses, (iii) corporate governance in family businesses, (iv) family constitution and shareholder agreements and (v) company valuations for M&A transactions.

His practice also includes asset and estate valuations for subsequent division and/or redistribution among family members, and mediating among family members, mainly as an independent member of a Board of Directors or an Advisory Board.

Likewise, Alejandro has extensive experience in the constitution and administration of civil law trusts (fideicomisos) in Colombia, trusts and private interest foundations (PIF), as well as their use in tax planning and corporate governance structures for cross-border families, in particular for settlors and beneficiaries with tax residence in the following jurisdictions: (i) Colombia; (ii) United States; (iii) Spain; (iv) Switzerland; (v) England and (vi) Brazil.
