Career

Leonardo is currently a senior associate at the firm and has practiced in the field of Antitrust & Competition for over 9 years, dealing with complex mergers and antitrust investigations mostly involving multinational corporations from several industries: from beverages in general to digital markets, finance, construction, steel, freight forwarding, transport, paper, consumer goods, among others.

His experience covers complex merger filings, activities in large and intricate investigations (such as the foreign exchange case, salt cartel, freight forward cartel, car wash investigations, LPG cartels), as well as on complex settlement negotiations, succeeding in a leading unilateral conduct case on digital markets in Brazil (OTA case). Leonardo has also co-designed and implemented competition and anti-bribery compliance programs, working closely with nation-wide associations in crucial sectors for the Brazilian economy and multinational companies. Moreover, Leonardo deal with complex antitrust litigation cases (covering annulment of dawn raids, private enforcement, injunctions, and annulment of decisions from the Competition Authority). Complex regulatory issues are also within the professional scope of Leonardo.

Leonardo holds LLB with honours from the University of São Paulo (USP); an LLM degree at University of Cambridge, and a Master in Economic Law at the University of São Paulo (USP). He is currently a PhD candidate in Economic Regulation and Algorithms at the University of São Paulo (USP). Leonardo has been a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, and a member of the Editorial boards at Cambridge International Journal, IBRAC’s Review and FDRP Academic Journal. Authored papers on Antitrust, Law & Economics and Law Tech.
