Carlos obtained a J.D. in 1992 from the National University of Colombia, where he was Valedictorian. He did a specialization in Public Management at the Superior School of Public Management in Bogota, Colombia. Later, Carlos was awarded a scholarship by COLFUTURO to attend Franklin Pierce Law (Concord, NH, USA), where he obtained his LL.M. in Intellectual Property in 2001. While at Franklin Pierce, he acted as Teaching Assistant to professor Craig Jepson, Franklin Pierce`s law professor on Patent Law and Patents and Biotechnology.
