Career

Partner in charge of Elias, Matias Advogados' Business area, which comprises Corporate Law and Commercial Contracts, Innovation and Startups, International Law and Sustainability practices, and Visiting Scholar at Stanford University Law School.

Two times winner of Premio Jabuti, Brazil's most traditional literary prize, in the Business, Economy and Law categories, for the books "Humankind and its frontiers: from sovereign state to global society", and "Humankind against the ropes: global society's fight for sustainability", he recently organized the book "Startups Legal Framework: Law 182/2021 and the promotion of innovative entrepreneurship in Brazil" and coauthored the study “Sharing Good Practices on Innovation”. With over 100 articles published in some of Brazil’s most important newspapers and magazines, he is frequently invited to share his opinion on Radio and TV programs. Leader of the ABES Startups Committee (Brazilian Association of Software Companies) and Vice-President of the Brazilian Bar Association’s (OAB-SP) Commission on Startups.

Together with Elias, Matias’ Corporate & Business area, he has been recognized by some of the most important national and international law firm guides, as The Legal 500, Leaders League, Best Lawyers and Anuário Análise Advocacia 500, in which he has been ranked between the most admired Brazilian lawyers in the International Trade Law area.

Recently, in 2020, Eduardo lead a study on behalf of Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia, Inovações e Comunicações (MCTIC), along with Leonardo Piccinetti (as the EU specialist), about how the European start up support policies and guidelines work and offering recommendations and support for the proposal for the “Brazilian Start-ups and Innovative Entrepreneurship Legal Framework”. Besides that, Eduardo’s expertise was recognized during all the process of discussion of the legal framework for innovation and startups, being invited several times to share his opinion on this subject in the media (see some interviews here, here and here).
