Career

Fabiola Medina Garnes has an extensive experience in public administration and in private practice and specializes in Litigation, Domestic and International Arbitration, Administrative and Regulatory Law, Taxes, Telecommunications and New Technologies, Civil Law, Competition, Consumer Protection and Environment and Foreign Investment.

Languages

Spanish, English and French. Basic knowledge of Portuguese and Italian.

Memberships

Fabiola Medina was a member of the International Court of Arbitration (ICC) (2005-2012) and is recognized for her great leadership in the field of arbitration in the Dominican Republic. She chaired the Santo Domingo Alternative Dispute Resolution Center (CRC) and recently was elected as part of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Association of International Private Law.

She is also a prominent member of the Tributary Association of the Dominican Republic (ATRIRD) and the Dominican Chapter of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). It is also worth mentioning her participation as President of the Disciplinary Board of the Dominican Bar Association, the Dominican Corporate Lawyers Association (ADAE), the Institutionalism and Justice Foundation (FINJUS) and the National Penitentiary Board of Trustees.

Education

Fabiola Medina Garnes has a Law Degree, graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors from the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University and has a Master’s Degree in International Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Grande Distinction honor, where she also obtained La Grande Plus Distinction at the presentation of her work for the Candidacy of the Doctorate. Also, she has a Master’s Degree in State Administration Law, Global Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences and University of Salamanca (2016-2018).

Personal

For her lifetime contribution to the advancement of women in the country, she received in 2008, the Medal for Merit of Women, the highest recognition for a woman given by the Executive Branch by recommendation of the Ministry of Women.

Was awarded as best female lawyer of the Dominican Republic, 2018.
