Career

With solid academic background and professional experience, Thiago Junqueira became a partner of Chalfin, Goldberg & Vainboim Advogados in March 2020. Since then his work has been focused on litigations involving complex issues related to insurance and reinsurance law, as well as providing all the necessary legal services for the compliance with the Brazilian Data Protection Law requirements. Over the years he has worked with the main players in the market and is recognized as one of the most talented civil lawyers of his generation.

Besides being a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Germany) and having given lectures at prestigious European universities, such as Salamanca (Spain) and Coimbra (Portugal), Junqueira is also a professor in the MBA programs at the School of Business and Insurance (ENS) and the Connect Institute of Social Law (ICDS). He has published several articles in the leading Brazilian journals and was also the author of Tratamento de dados pessoais e discriminação algorítmica nos seguros, the first book written in Portuguese to address algorithmic discrimination in the insurance industry. Recently, he was a co-author and co-organizer of the two-volume book Temas Atuais de Direito dos Seguros, published by Thomson Reuters.

He holds a Doctorate Degree in Civil Law from the Rio de Janeiro State University (Brazil), and a Master's degree in Civil Law from the University of Coimbra (Portugal).
