Stevie Gamboa Valladares leads the Energy and Natural Resources practice at the firm, where he advises foreign and domestic companies on matters related to energy, mining, environment, and telecommunications. Over the past decade, he has represented S&P500 companies in due diligence, acquisition, merger, and divestment processes for mining and energy projects, as well as in energy and telecommunications arbitrations.
In the public sector, he has directed regulatory departments in major state-owned companies such as EP PETROECUADOR, the National Electricity Corporation, the National Telecommunications Corporation, and the Electric Company of Guayaquil CATEG. He has also served on the Board of the Mining Regulation and Control Agency ARCOM and the Telecommunications Regulation and Control Agency ARCOTEL.
Stevie Gamboa was a member of the Board of Regulation of the Organic Law of Regulation and Control of Market Power, and he held the position of General Manager at the National Mining Company ENAMI EP. He also chaired the Mixed Economy Company Gran Nacional Minera Mariscal Sucre.
He also as a ministerial advisor in strategic sectors and as a legislative advisor during the creation and reform processes of legislation related to water and water resource utilization, environment, citizen participation, mining, and telecommunications.
He has been the Industry Coordinator for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Ecuador and a guest lecturer at the Externado University of Colombia and in the Regional Technical Training Center of Coquimbo in Chile. Currently, he serves as the President of the Ibero-American Association of Energy Law.
