Yu Shi focuses his practice on securities litigation, helping aggrieved investors recover money lost due to corporate malfeasance. In 2022, Law360 recognized Mr. Shi as one of the nation’s top securities attorneys under 40. Mr. Shi was one of only five attorneys – from both plaintiff and defense side – that year to receive such honor. In 2024, Lawdragon named Mr. Shi to its 500 Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers list.  Mr. Shi has also been selected to Super Lawyers each year since 2018.

Mr. Shi has extensive experience litigating securities class actions against companies across all industries, achieving settlements against corporations in the pharmaceutical, oil & gas, financial, and technology sectors, to name a few. He also has had particular success obtaining recoveries from foreign issuers.  Some of Mr. Shi’s recent successes include: $9.5 million recovery against Uxin Limited (China-based automotive retailer), $9.0 million recovery against PPDAI Group (China-based fintech company), $6.5 million recovery against Aeterna Zentaris Inc. (Germany-based pharmaceutical company), $5.0 million recovery against SOS Limited (China-based technology company), $5.0 million recovery against Momo Inc. (China-based social media company), Liberty Oilfield Services Inc. (U.S.-based oil & gas company), and $1.75 million recovery against BMW Group AG (Germany-based automobile manufacturer).

Mr. Shi is currently one of the lead attorneys litigating the securities class action against NIO Inc., a China-based electric vehicles company known as the “Tesla of China,” related to NIO’s $1.1 billion IPO.

Mr. Shi also has experience litigating cases involving SPACs and bankrupt issuers, including Fusion Connect Inc., Electric Last Mile Solutions Inc., Sunlight Financial Holdings Inc., among others.
