Senior Associate

Mengyi is a Hong Kong qualified lawyer who obtained her LLB and PCLL degrees at the University of Hong Kong.  She has also passed the GBA Legal Examination. She is a native Mandarin speaker and is fluent in English and Cantonese.

Mengyi’s practice primarily focuses on intellectual property (ranging from IP litigations to all kinds of commercialisation of IP rights), data protection, and regulatory and compliance in the technology sector.  Her sector focus is broad, although she has significant exposure to the technology, media and life sciences sectors.  She also advises on general commercial matters, especially in relation to legal issues arising from the rapid development of technology.

Mengyi has substantial experience on contentious matters – she has handled many high valued IP licensing and infringement disputes as well as commercial disputes in relation to software development, enterprise resource planning, BPO outsourcing and licence audit.  On the transaction side, she advised on number of significant high profile IP technology transfer and commercialisation projects in Hong Kong and mainland China.  Her in-depth understanding of clients’ commercial need enables her to provide practical legal advice and solutions to clients, particularly to those international clients in international projects.

She also has experience in advising on data privacy issue and general commercial issues in connection with digital economy.
