Career
Michael specialises in resolving complex/high-value commercial disputes for clients ranging from private individuals to public companies.
Michael believes that the best outcome for a client can only be achieved by a thorough and detailed appraisal of the case at the outset. He always seeks to resolve a dispute at the least possible cost and at the earliest possible stage by utilising the most appropriate dispute resolution procedure, including negotiations, mediation, expert determination, arbitration, adjudication, litigation or a combination of these.
Throughout any case, Michael will always keep the client’s objectives and their commercial considerations firmly in mind.
Michael has particular expertise in breach of contract/warranty claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, directors’ duties, guarantees and indemnities, company law and insolvency issues, and professional negligence.
Michael is the relationship partner for a leading regional building society, for whom he advises on complex/high-value matters.
He is an ADR Group Accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator and is rated as a Legal 500 “Leading Individual” and a member of the Hall of Fame for Commercial Litigation work.
Michael is Chairman of Ashtons Legal, President of the Cambridgeshire Law Society, and Council Member of the Law Society for England and Wales for Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire (2017 to 2021).
