Career
Over her many years in practice, Amy has developed a strong reputation in the East Anglian region for her skills as a planning lawyer. Ranked as a ‘Leading Individual’ in the Legal 500, clients appreciate her friendly and approachable manner, but robust and commercial advice.
Her practice area is large and covers a wide range of planning issues, but her work submitting planning applications has given her a strong working knowledge of development control aspects of development.
She is an ex-local authority solicitor, so knows and understands the planning system from both sides. Her specialisms include:
- drafting and negotiating infrastructure agreements
- project development and appraisal
- planning appeals
- submission of planning applications
- enforcement issues
- certificates of lawfulness
- defending planning prosecutions
- public rights of way issues, including diversions and definitive map modification orders.
Her client base is wide-ranging and includes residential developers, agricultural and equine-related development, commercial buildings, affordable housing providers, local planning authorities, Parish Councils, and private individuals. Over the years, she has forged a strong reputation for advising on equine development and Class Q Permitted Development conversions. Amy does act for individuals and often objects to planning applications for residents concerned about neighbouring developments.
Recent work includes drafting and negotiating an s106 agreement for a care home, nursery and residential development, acting for a residents association regarding the Development Consent Order at Sizewell C, objecting to a Modification Order to the Definitive Map to establish a footpath on her client’s land, undertake a site feasibility of a development of up to 400 houses, and objecting to a planning application for a ‘dark kitchen’ with associated noise and odour nuisance issues.
