Personal Injury: Claimant
Position
Partner and Head of Personal Injury
Career
Richard is Head of Personal Injury at Ashtons Legal and specialises in complex injury claims.
Richard has a reputation for taking on and winning complex cases, whether arising from accidents at work, on the road, through public liability or otherwise.
Richard’s varied caseload includes acting for clients who have suffered the broadest range of injuries, including spinal injury, limb fractures, or brain injury. His practice also includes cases which other solicitors have turned away or failed to properly progress, leading the clients to seek alternative legal representation.
Richard is passionate about the importance and benefit of clients having access to early rehabilitation, care and support following serious injury and recognises the positive effects this can have not only upon the life of the injured victim but also upon those closest to them.
Richard is highly experienced and has settled many high-value claims (those with values in excess of £1 million), both through negotiation and the Courts, a recent one involving a vulnerable client whose award for damages in excess of £4 million was approved in the High Court and Richard was commended by the Judge.
Richard leads the Ashtons Legal Tier 1 (Legal 500) Personal Injury team, who say that Richard is “always on hand to provide representation to the underdog, providing clients with excellent service.” He is also ranked in Band 1 by Chambers and Partners for Claimant personal injury work.
Richard is recognised by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers as a Fellow and is a member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel.
Richard is a member of the Forum of Complex Injury Solicitors and is a trustee of Headway Suffolk and Felixstowe Citizens Advice.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys trail running, following Watford FC and coaching cricket and rugby.
