Counsel

Natalya Pilbeam is a counsel in the Project Development & Finance practice, based in the Middle East.

She has a wide range of experience in the international energy, infrastructure, power and extractive industry sectors across oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), nuclear, wind, solar and mining. She has acted for both lenders and for sponsors, with particular expertise acting on the sponsor side and has worked extensively with the Middle East and North Africa. She has also worked with Russia, Azerbaijan and Central and Eastern Europe. She has deep expertise working with complex upstream joint ventures at all stages of an asset’s lifecycle.

Her practice focuses on complex project development and project finance involving hydrogen and transition economy projects, upstream oil & gas and power.

Ms. Pilbeam joined Shearman & Sterling LLP following 13 years in-house as senior counsel at an international energy company where she primarily advised the oil and gas production and operations business, working with assets in Azerbaijan/Georgia/Turkey, Iraq, Egypt and Algeria. More recently, she worked as a managing counsel for their customer and products business, working with both retail and business to business focused assets. In addition, she worked on the early project development phase of UK based offshore wind assets.
