Conveyancing

Position

Iain is a partner, solicitor, and joint head of the residential conveyancing department at Fraser Dawbarns.

Career

After gaining his LPC, Iain completed his training contract and qualified as a solicitor in March 2000. He then joined a Norfolk-based law firm, where he specialised in residential property law and was invited to join the partnership four years after qualifying. Iain left in January 2008 to join Fraser Dawbarns to head up the Residential Conveyancing department. He has since become the Senior Responsible Officer for the firm’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme.

Education

Iain studied for a BSc (Hons) in Law with Business at the University of Hertfordshire, which provided him with not just the necessary understanding of the law, but also provided him with an understanding of personnel management, business structures, and marketing, something which a pure LLB (Hons) degree would not have provided. After graduating with a 2:1 (Hons), Iain took the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Chester.

Personal

Outside work, Iain is an avid motorcyclist (holding both the Institute for Advanced Motorcycle riding and a ROSPA gold award). From 2009 to 2020 he was a volunteer blood biker for Norfolk Blood Bikes being on call from 7pm to 7am four nights a month.

Leisure

In his spare time, Iain enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage daughters, and taking relaxing holidays in the UK and Europe. He also enjoys playing the piano. When time permits, taking his beloved Honda VFR1200f out for an exploratory run through Norfolk (and sometimes a little further afield) is the best relaxation he can think of.
