Career
Laurens is a partner in Dentons’ Brussels office. As a member of the firm’s corporate practice group, Laurens advises a variety of clients across sectors on both domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, the structuring of joint ventures, and venture capital deals. He has advised on all aspects of complex transactions, including as project manager. Laurens also has significant experience in the area of transactional risk insurance.
In addition to his transactional expertise, Laurens devotes a significant portion of his practice to advising European and international clients on compliance with EU sanctions and export control regulations, including a six-month secondment to an international client in its global sanctions and export controls department. His experience advising on compliance with sanctions makes Laurens ideally placed to ensure that the firm’s transactions he advises on are conducted in compliance with applicable laws.
Laurens graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain and gained extensive knowledge on Belgian, EU and international law, a combination that is indispensable in navigating diverse legal issues. In 2021, Laurens additionally obtained a post-graduate degree in corporate finance.
