Position

Joe Carroll is a senior associate in the Real Estate practice in Dentons’ Dubai office. Joe has over 16 years of experience (11 of which at Dentons) working on a wide variety of areas including sales and acquisitions, project development, finance transactions and landlord and tenant matters. He has an in-depth understanding of real estate law and practice in the UAE and the wider Middle East. Joe has an impressive range of experience in hotel, leisure and resort projects and leads much of Dentons’ real estate work in the UAE.

Joe has been ranked in Chambers Global as “Associate to Watch” for six consecutive years and in Legal 500 as “Rising Star” for three consecutive years. He also holds multiple “Next Generation Lawyer” rankings from Legal 500.

Career

• Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC): Advising DMCC on the management and ancillary agreements for the five-star SO/Uptown Dubai to be situated in its landmark Uptown Dubai project. We also advised on the development financing and project structuring for Tower 2 of Uptown Dubai that will house 10 million square feet of grade-A commercial and residential space.
• National Central Cooling Company PJSC (Tabreed): Advising an Abu Dhabi based district cooling provider on its purchase of Aldar Properties’ district cooling assets on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. This was one of the UAE’s largest deals of 2020 and involved the acquisition of multiple assets at different stages of development.
• SHUAA Capital PSC: Advising SHUAA on the agreements appointing St Regis as manager of a luxury residences project at 1 Palace Street, London; a Grade II listed building overlooking Buckingham Palace. We also advised on the forms of agreement to be entered into with purchasers of units in the project.
• Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp): Acting for ZonesCorp, one of the region’s largest industrial landlords, on its standard form leases and negotiations for industrial and workers accommodation premises in Abu Dhabi. Key transactions include advising on project agreements for the Rahayel integrated auto-hub and the sale of the Razeen workers accommodation project.
• Al Ain Holdings: Advising the owner on the hotel and residences agreements for The Address Residences Jumeirah Resort + Spa, a two-tower development at Jumeirah Beach Residence that accommodates a 183 key five-star hotel, 479 residential apartments and 496 serviced apartments.
