Career

Bertold Bär-Bouyssière is a partner in Dentons’ Brussels office and a member of the Competition and Antitrust practice group. Currently he focuses on sustainability, artificial intelligence and competition policy in a multipolar, geopolitically complex world.

With 30 years of practice, Bertold is one of the leading advisors in EU and German competition law. A senior member of the “EU Brussels bubble,” Bertold combines legal skills with insights into competition policy dynamics to offer clients sustainable strategic antitrust solutions.

Over the years, Bertold supported clients in a wide range of sectors, including satellite communications, aerospace and defense, life sciences, petrochemicals, automotive vehicles, air and maritime transport, tourism, consumer products, financial services, energy and life sciences.

Bertold’s service focus includes all areas of antitrust law: counseling, defense, damages actions, merger control, state aid law and complaints.

For Bertold, it is important to share his experience with others. For years, he has been advising EURORDIS, the European patient platform for rare diseases, on a pro bono basis. In addition, he and his family have been financially supporting the schooling of two children in Ethiopia since 2002. In addition, he has been actively involved in the further development of European antitrust law for more than a decade within the framework of AmCham EU and has devoted himself to cultivating transatlantic relations.
