Career

Andy serves as chief outside labour and employment counsel for a wide range of public and private sector employers. Andy’s practice encompasses all areas of labour and employment law and he is often called upon to provide advice on sensitive human resources matters including harassment complaints, collective bargaining, drafting and enforcement of restrictive covenants, creation of employment policies and manuals and restructurings or workforce reductions. In addition, Andy regularly represents employers in all aspects of labour and employment related litigation, including wrongful dismissal matters. He has appeared as employer’s counsel before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as well as a number of administrative tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Ontario Labour Relations Board.

Andy is a former executive member of the Ontario Bar Association’s labour and employment law section and is a frequent speaker and author on noteworthy developments in labour and employment law. He holds degrees from Wilfrid Laurier University (B.B.A.), the University of Windsor (LL.B.) and the University of Cambridge (LL.M.) and before joining the firm he clerked for the Honourable Mr. Justice Allen M. Linden and the Honourable Mr. Justice John M. Evans of the Federal Court of Appeal. He currently acts as Chair of the Toronto Office’s Student Committee.
