Simon Elzen-Hoskyn is a partner in Dentons’ Edmonton office. He is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Construction, and Infrastructure and PPP practice groups.

Simon advises project owners, including utility and pipeline companies, design-builders, contractors and developers in disputes related to construction deficiencies, design errors and omissions, delay claims and various contract and tort claims. He focuses on achieving beneficial outcomes for his clients using a variety of alternative dispute resolution practices, including pre-litigation collaborative solutions, and by advocating for clients in arbitration or litigation proceedings. He also employs mediation often for commercial and construction disputes to allow clients to have a say in the successful resolution of their dispute.

Simon often represents clients in complex arbitrations arising from construction/infrastructure projects. He excels at both individual legal analysis and project management in a collaborative team setting. He has developed a specialty in e-discovery technology and strategic document review/production systems, making him ideal counsel for disputes involving exchange of large-scale data sets.

Simon also has extensive courtroom and trial experience, including making appellate submissions. He has appeared before the Alberta Court of King’s Bench and the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal.

Simon also has experience in constitutional litigation, including separate school education rights under the Constitution Act and Indigenous legal issues.
