National Lead, Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies and Managing Partner

Career

David Little is the National Lead of Dentons Canada's Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies Group, and Managing Partner of the Ottawa office.

David focuses on representing funds and emerging companies in venture capital financings, cross-border transactions, buy-outs and M&A.

David regularly acts as principal external counsel for many of the leading venture capital investors (both private and public) in Canada and the United States in a broad range of financing transactions, including a number of the largest VC deals in Canada. He also provides ongoing corporate and securities advice to numerous knowledge-based and other emerging companies, as well as senior executives, boards of directors and fund general partners, through all stages of the growth cycle, from start-up through M&A and public financings, including with respect to governance, equity compensation and other corporate matters.

David has previously been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Common Law where he lectured extensively on securities law and venture capital.

David has been recognized by numerous groups including Best Lawyers as a leading practitioner in venture law, including as Lawyer of the Year, Venture Capital Law (Ottawa) for 2023.

Dentons has been ranked among the top 10 globally in venture capital deals, as reported in Pitchbook.
