Career
Kim Wakefield is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group of Dentons’ Edmonton office. His practice focuses on civil litigation and administrative and regulatory law.
Kim represents a variety of clients in matters concerning health, intellectual property, real property, municipal planning, expropriation, commercial disputes, construction and professional liability. He appears before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta, the Court of Appeal of Alberta, the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. The administrative bodies before which he appears include the Alberta Utilities Commission, the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission, Expropriation Inquiries, the Land Compensation Board, medical professional practice review panels, the Alberta Hospital Privileges Appeal Board, the Surface Rights Board, the Municipal Government Board, property assessment review boards, the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, the British Columbia Farm Industry Review Board, the Universities Academic Pension Plan Board, professional discipline tribunals, Subdivision and Development Appeal Boards in Alberta and NWT and municipal Councils and committees. He also appears on numerous appeals and applications for judicial review from these tribunals and acts as counsel in arbitration proceedings.
Kim is active community affairs in the City of Edmonton where he provides pro bono advice and legal services to a number of community groups primarily on land use and municipal law matters. He is recognized by Martindale-Hubbell.
