Stephen Lloyd practices corporate and commercial law from Dentons Montreal office. With a practice that focusses on the natural resource sector, Stephen is a recognized leader in the forest product industry.
Stephen acts regularly for multinationals, real estate trusts and family–owned businesses in various complex transactions involving both real estate and operating business assets. He advises on the ongoing business operations of a number of Canadian forest products companies. In addition to managing their large–scale acquisitions and divestitures, he has a particular expertise in long–term commercial and joint venture arrangements within the forest products and other manufacturing industries. Stephen is a proven deal-maker with a practical, efficient approach. Stephen advises clients on their effective long term stewardship of Canada's natural resources, and often assists in the establishment of sustainable relations between First Nations communities, conservation organizations and natural resource companies.
Stephen is involved in the management of Dentons, formerly as head of the Montreal Commercial department, and currently as a member of the local management board. He sits as a director and trustee on the boards of many business sector clients and is also actively involved in the governance and leadership of a number of charitable and community organizations. He is a member of the national board of Nature Conservancy of Canada and is an elected Councillor for a municipality in the Laurentians area of Quebec. He is also a trustee and officer of the Martlet Foundation, which supports athletics at McGill University.
