Career

John Peters commenced his career in Winnipeg as in-house counsel to a fully-integrated real estate development company, which was involved at the time in the syndication of real estate, both by public offerings and private placements. He also spent a year with a multi-national German law firm advising German businesses on investments in Canada. In 1984 he relocated to Calgary and worked with both a major Calgary firm and two national law firms prior to joining Dentons as counsel in 2015.

John is a highly respected senior practitioner in commercial real estate, development and corporate/commercial legal work. This includes a specialty in the formation of real estate syndicates, including joint ventures and limited partnership arrangements.

His clients are in involved in real estate development, construction, the hospitality business, oilfield services and manufacturing. While at one time, he acted for a number of public corporations, his practice is currently focused on owner-managed businesses
