Senior Counsel

Darlene served as Chair of Dentons Edmonton’s Financial Services Group for over 10 years. She provides legal advice to a broad range of institutional and corporate clients on commercial matters, including sales, leasing, development, and acquisition of real estate, business and shares.

Darlene has also represented lenders and borrowers in financing and secured transactions for more than 30 years, and chaired the Financial Services Group in Edmonton for over 10 years. She acts regularly for institutional and other lenders in documenting secured transactions and has acted for borrowers in a broad range of industries. Her experience ranges from real estate and other asset-based lending, to project and operating financing, together with more specialized lending such as retirement compensation arrangements. She also acts for developers of commercial, residential and condominium projects.

Darlene has been named in the Best Lawyers in Canada 2014-2016 directories as a leading lawyer in the areas of Banking and Finance, Corporate law, and Real Estate law. She is also listed in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a leading lawyer in the field of Banking and Financial Institutions and was awarded Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” Award in Corporate Law in 2014. She received her Queen’s Counsel designation in 2016. Darlene has served as a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta since 2014 and in that capacity she is the Chair of Audit and Finance, and the Vice Chair of Conduct.
