Career

John is an associate in Dentons’ Insolvency and Restructuring group. His practice focusses on bankruptcy, receivership, and restructuring law, including strategic insolvency planning, insolvency litigation, and acting as counsel to debtor companies, creditors, monitors, and trustees in bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings. John also has experience in judgment enforcement and corporate litigation matters.

John completed his Articles of Clerkship at the Court of Queen’s Bench Calgary, where he had the opportunity to work with a number of Justices of the Court. He completed the remaining component of his Articles at Dentons before joining the Insolvency and Restructuring Group as an Associate in 2015.

John previously worked at Dentons as a summer student in 2012 and in 2013 he was a summer student in the corporate legal department of a major Canadian oil and gas company.

Upon graduating law school, John was awarded the Horace Harvey Gold Medal as the top student in his graduating class. Prior to entering law school, John completed a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of Alberta focusing on business economics and business law. He was awarded both the Dr. Hu Harries medal as the top graduate from the School of Business and the Governor General’s Silver Medal for achieving the highest standing in a Bachelor program among students at the University of Alberta.
